This is going to be a long review but I just have to express how much I appreciate this perfume house!
Living in Australia I usually try to avoid buying perfumes from overseas, since exchange rates and shipping fees cost far too much on top of an already expensive product, plus many cannot ship overseas due to restrictions on alcohol based products. Prior to placing an order here, I was interested in a number of other indie perfume houses around the world but had to rule them out because not only were samples very expensive, but I would never have been able to justify the price of a full bottle if I’d found something I loved. I took a chance on Damask Haus however, because I was intrigued by the notes and marketing and for a small indie perfume maker, their products are reasonably priced, and their website automatically converts currency - a rare and much appreciated feature (normally I have to mentally at least double the price of anything in US dollars).
I appreciate that they offer a range of bottle sizes to suit every budget, and the 2ml size is perfect if you want a more generous sample. I was able to get a lot of samples for what I think is a great price and they threw in some freebies as well. As for the scents, they are evocative, complex and evolve in interesting ways. I am not normally a wearer of gourmands, but the gourmands are exceptionally good and giving me a new appreciation for the genre.
I ordered the oil version, and I’m really enjoying the potency and purity of the oil. The longevity and projection are outstanding, and I feel like I get to properly appreciate the top notes for their full duration instead of them being masked by alcohol fumes. If I had the option, in the future I would only buy oil based perfume!
I am really happy with my perfumes and will definitely be back in the future to buy some full bottles once I've used up my samples.
